Once those underwhelming items are out of the house, start reconnecting with what you have. Sure, it sounds a little quirky, but all ‘reconnecting’ really means is to appreciate. Ramp up the appreciation you have for your stuff. Take a moment to mindfully work out what you love about your items. Maybe the sofa encourages the whole family to squeeze up and snuggle? Or maybe it was your first ‘grown-up’ purchase? Or maybe you love that it’s so old the kids can jump all over it?
Whatever it is you love about your objects, ramp it up!
Lastly, be realistic. I am always encouraging clients to focus less on fixtures (the physical house) and more on what is inside it. How functional is your home? Does it allow you to live the way you want to for this moment in time? Sure, we all have a dream home, and hopefully, we will get it, but what little things can you do now to make your apartment, loft, condo, rental or new property your best right now
home?
Invest in the way of seeing the world that is calm, connected and welcoming. Invest in how you see your house, and very soon it will transform into a home. A home sanctuary.
